Storm Damage Restoration in Blaine, MN
Blaine sits flat and open in the north metro. Storms that form to the northwest arrive with very little to slow them down, and the city has taken the results more than once.
The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado that started near Highway 10 and Central Avenue and tracked northwest toward Coon Rapids. Hail reports near the city go back through the whole National Weather Service record, with several years running into double digits.
Kiser Construction has handled storm damage restoration in Anoka County since 2003. We are licensed in Minnesota under BC416441.
Before you let anyone on your roof
The city has a rule that works in your favor, and most homeowners do not know about it.
Anyone going door to door to sell in Blaine must hold a city issued photo identification license. They are required to wear it where you can see it and to show it on request. Door to door sales are allowed only between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. There are no Sunday sales.
So when someone knocks after a storm, ask two things. Show me your city solicitor license. Show me your Minnesota contractor license. If they cannot produce both, close the door. The city asks residents to report unlicensed solicitors to the Blaine Police Department.
One more thing worth knowing. State law bars any contractor from paying, rebating, or waiving part of your insurance deductible. If it gets offered, that is not a discount. It is a violation.
Wind damage and hail damage are not the same
Hail bruises shingles. The damage is scattered across the slope and it is hard to see from the ground.
Wind works differently. It lifts shingles from the edges and the ridge first and breaks the seal underneath. The shingle can drop back down and look fine while the seal is gone. Then the next storm takes it off entirely.
We inspect from the roof and document each elevation separately so the pattern is clear to your adjuster.
Homes here vary more than most suburbs
The city spans both Anoka and Ramsey counties and has grown in waves. There are 1960s ramblers on the west side and new construction out near the National Sports Center. Roof age, decking type, and siding material vary a lot from block to block, and that changes what a repair actually involves.
An older roof with plank decking may need work below the shingles to meet current code. A ten year old roof usually does not. We tell you which one you have before any work starts.
What we repair
Most claims here come down to roofing, but wind rarely stops at the roof line.
- Roof repair through full replacement
- Siding, soffit, and fascia
- Gutters and downspouts
- Windows
- Interior water damage that follows a roof or window breach
Where the building is open, emergency board up and tarping happens on the first visit.
