What storm damage restoration includes
Storm damage restoration covers everything between the storm and a fully repaired home. It starts with emergency protection and ends with a final walkthrough. In between are the inspection, the paperwork your adjuster needs and every repair, inside and out.
In Minnesota, storm damage comes from hail, straight-line wind, falling trees and heavy rain driven through openings. Each one leaves a different kind of damage, and a good restoration contractor looks for all of them.
The first night: tarp, board up and stop the water
Emergency work comes first. We tarp open roofs, board broken windows and doors, and get water out before it spreads. Here’s how our emergency board-up and tarping works.
Photos before anything gets covered
Before we cover anything, we photograph it. Your adjuster will want to see the damage the way the storm left it.

Signs of storm damage: what a full inspection covers
A good inspection looks at the whole house, not just the shingles. Here’s what we check.
Roof
Missing, lifted or creased shingles, hail bruises, and damaged flashing, vents and pipe boots.
Siding, gutters and windows
Cracks, holes and dents in the siding, plus loose pieces that let rain get behind the wall. Dented or pulled-away gutters that dump water at the foundation. Broken glass, cracked frames and failed seals on windows and skylights.
Attic and interior
Wet roof decking, wet insulation and ceiling stains. These tell us water already got in. Water that gets inside is a water damage job, and our water damage restoration crew dries it out, so nothing gets missed between the roof and the drywall.
Hail and the “impact-resistant” label
If your roof needs replacing after hail, you’ll hear about impact-resistant shingles. They can be a good choice. But the label alone doesn’t tell you much.
The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety tested eight popular impact-resistant shingles. Their hail performance ranged from excellent to poor, even though every one carried the label. IBHS released those results in August 2019, the day after giant hail hit Delano, Minnesota.

Here’s the order a storm job follows with us.
1. Free inspection and written scope
We photograph every area of damage and write it up. You see what’s being repaired or replaced before work starts.
2. Meeting your adjuster

3. Repairs, inside and out
Roof, siding, gutters, windows, framing, drywall and paint are handled by one company on one schedule. You can check that schedule any time in our customer portal.
4. Final walkthrough
We go through the finished job with you. Our work carries a one-year warranty from the completion date.

What storm repairs cost
Cost depends on what the storm hit. A few replaced shingles and a gutter section is a small job. A full roof, siding on two sides of the house and interior drying is a big one.
The main factors are the size and pitch of the roof, how many sides of the house took damage, whether water got inside, and whether trees or framing were involved.
Our inspections are free, and you get a written scope before any work starts. We work on 50/50 payment terms.
