  • Take photos or video of as many of your belongings as you can.

  • Keep collars and leashes at the ready in case you have to evacuate quickly with your pet(s).
  • On a static window cling, write down the number of pets in your house and attach it to a front window. Firefighters will see be able to see this and know how many pets are inside the house. Make sure to update this anytime the number of pets in your home changes.

  • Know how to shut off your home’s water and utilities.
  • Have an evacuation plan in case of severe flooding.
  • Take photos or videos of as many of your belongings as you can.

  • Make sure everyone in your household knows what to do and where to go when severe weather strikes.
  •  Have a plan on how you will communicate in the midst of and after an emergency.
    • Mobile networks can become overwhelmed if a lot of people are trying to make calls in an emergency. Text messages, however, use less bandwidth and can be transmitted more reliably. Social media is another great way to communicate with family and friends during or after an emergency.
